Explore the art of ceramics in this hands-on wheel-throwing and hand-building course designed for adults of all skill levels. Whether you're new to the potter’s wheel or looking to refine your techniques, this class provides step-by-step guidance in centering, throwing, and trimming clay to create functional and decorative ceramic works. As there are a limited number of wheels, we will also be exploring hand-building. During each class, students will spend a portion of the class on the wheel and a portion on hand building or glazing. We will also spend some time looking at different conceptual and artisan ceramic-based artists who have furthered the craft in new and exciting ways. This class will give you a solid foundation in basic forms, surface design, and glazing techniques while helping to develop your personal style. An allotment of clay, use of tools, and firing services are included.
