These prints influenced artists around the world, including Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin, and continue to inspire contemporary artists today.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of Japanese woodblock printing, focusing on inking, hand-printing, color layering, and kento—the traditional registration system that allows multiple carved blocks to align accurately. Unlike many introductory printmaking classes that focus on a single carved block, this workshop introduces the multi-block printing process that made Ukiyo-e famous.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eStudents will print from instructor-provided carved blocks featuring designs inspired by traditional and contemporary Japanese imagery. Beginners may explore classic themes such as Mt. Fuji, while returning students are welcome to work with additional designs, including floral motifs and larger-format blocks.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eParticipants will also collaborate on carving demonstration blocks, gaining an understanding of how multiple blocks are created and used together in the printing process.
