Masters of Art for Young Creatives (Ages 6-9)

Sundays, April 12, 19, and 26, 2026

1-3pm

Fee: $50 for each workshop

Masters of Art for Young Creatives introduces students to influential artists from art history through immersive, hands-on studio projects. Each workshop focuses on one artist and artistic movement, guiding students to explore unique techniques, materials, and creative approaches while developing their own artistic voice.

Students engage with age-appropriate art history concepts and translate what they observe into original artwork. Each session functions independently while collectively reinforcing creative confidence, visual thinking, and expressive skills.

Workshop 1: Kandinsky — Color, Shape & Sound (April 12)

Inspired by the abstract work of Kandinsky students explore the relationship between shape, music, emotion, and visual art. Through guided listening and expressive painting, children create an abstract composition using bold shapes, lines, and color to represent sound and movement.

Focus Areas:

Abstract art and emotional expression
Shape, line, and color relationships
Translating sensory experiences into visual format

Workshop 2: Monet — Light, Water & Impressionism (April 19)

Students discover the work of Monet and learn how Impressionist artists captured light and atmosphere. Using watercolor and layered painting techniques, children create a nature-inspired scene that emphasizes movement, reflection, and color blending.

Focus Areas:

Observation of nature and light
Layering and color mixing
Introduction to Impressionism and plein air painting

Workshop 3: Georgia O’Keeffe — Big, Bold Nature (April 26)

Inspired by Georgia O'Keefe students explore scale and abstraction by creating a close-up flower artwork. By zooming in on natural forms, children learn how artists simplify shapes and use color to create strong visual impact.

Focus Areas:

Scale and composition
Close observation of natural forms
Confidence in bold artistic choices
