Abstract Painting Studio: Translating Emotion, Experience & Life
Jan 19 - Feb 23, 2027
Tuesdays, 7-9pm
Age: Adults and Ages 15+
Fee: $195
Instructor: Michael Finch
This course is designed to welcome both new and returning students. Through exercises exploring intuition, experimentation, and personal expression, new students will be introduced to foundational methods of abstraction, while returning students will build upon what they have previously learned through expanded exercises and deeper creative challenges.
Students will work from personal emotion, experience, memory, and life as sources for experimentation, focusing on exploration and discovery rather than representation. Returning students will be encouraged to use familiar exercises as springboards for greater risk-taking, more ambitious compositions, and continued development of their individual growth.
The course will emphasize process, encouraging students at all levels to embrace mistakes, follow intuition, and discover new possibilities through painting. Each student will work at their own level while participating in a shared, supportive studio environment.
Supplies provided.
